Driving directions:

Shanghai’s outer and inner ring roads link to the airport via Yingbin Road, which runs through the airport, and Fareast Road, which is west of the airport, respectively. The outer ring road also connects Shanghai Pudong International Airport to Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport (journey time: 1 hour). The total drive time from central Shanghai to Shanghai Pudong International Airport is approximately 50 minutes, depending on traffic.

Public Transport

Public transport road:

Bus: Several bus routes from the airport serve various areas of Shanghai. Airport line 1 connects Shanghai Pudong International Airport with Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport (departures every 15-25 minutes from 0700-2300). Other routes run to City Air Terminal (Jingan Temple), Galaxy Hotel, Hongkou Football Stadium, Zhongshan Park, Lin Gang Xin Cheng and Shanghai South Railway Station (same frequency and times).

Taxi: Taxis are available from outside the terminals: passengers must join the correct queue for the desired destination. Passengers should ensure the driver uses the meter. The journey time to central Shanghai around 50 minutes.

Public transport rail:

Rail: The Maglev Train (tel: +86 21 2890 7777; www.smtdc.com/en), a high-speed magnetic levitation train, connects the airport with metro lines 2, 7 and 16 at Longyang Station (journey time: 8 minutes). Trains run every 15 minutes from 0902 to 1847 and every 20 minutes from 0702 to 0842 and 1902 and 2141. Underground metro line 2 links Shanghai Pudong International Airport to Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport.

Another, cheaper and slower, option is Metro Line 2 which takes about an hour into the city centre.

Terminal facilities

Money:

Several banks, bureaux de change, and ATMs are located within the terminal buildings, within both the arrivals and departure areas.

Food:

There are numerous restaurants, coffee shops and bars in both terminals. These include fast-food outlets, restaurants serving local fare, and international food retailers.

Shopping:

Shops at Shanghai Pudong International Airport include gift retailers, designer brand shops and duty-free outlets. The majority of shops are concentrated in dedicated shopping areas on the third floor of both terminals.

Luggage:

Left-luggage facilities are available in both terminals. A lost and found office can be found between Gates 4 and 5 in the Departure Hall and between Gate 6 and 7 in the Arrivals Hall in Terminal 1 (tel: +86 40 0879 1617), as well as in the Departure Hall of Terminal 2 (tel: +86 40 0879 1617).

Other:

Baby change/feeding rooms can be found within the terminals. There are two pharmacies in the shopping centre on the third floor of Terminal 1 and there are two first-aid stations in the Arrivals Hall of Building B.

Airport facilities

Conference and business:

A business centres are located near Gate 7 of the Arrivals Hall in Terminal 1 and near Gate 2A of the Arrivals Hall and the Departure counter, Island B in Terminal 2. These facilities provide photocopying, telephones, fax and internet facilities and internet service for business visitors. There is also a VIP room, as well as several lounges operated by various airlines at the airport.

The Ramada Pudong Airport Shanghai Hotel (tel: +86 21 3849 4949; www.ramadaairportpd.com/en/) has large meeting and business facilities, including a ballroom accommodating up to 400 people, and a free shuttle bus service to the airport. The Dazhong Airport Hotel (tel: +86 21 38799999; www.dazhongairporthotel.com) offers 6 conference rooms for up to 80 people. The Shanghai New International Expo Centre is also nearby (tel: +86 21 2890 6888; en.sniec.net).

Communication Facilities:

Free Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout Shanghai Pudong International Airport. Telephones, mobile device charging stations and static internet kiosks are also located within the terminals. There is also an on-site post office.

Disabled facilities:

There are lifts and ramps to provide easy access for wheelchair users; free wheelchairs are available for unaccompanied elderly above 60 years old, pregnant women and those with disabilities. They can be requested at the inquiry centres in the Departure Hall between Gates 22-23, 24-25, 26-27 and in the reception area in the International Arrivals Hall. Passengers requiring other special assistance should contact their airline prior to travel. Disabled toilets can be found within the passenger terminals.

Car parking:

There is an open-air car park for short- and long-term parking, located in front of the terminal buildings. A total of 113 parking spaces are available in PVG’s parking lots.

There are no car rental services available at Shanghai Pudong International Airport.
